ORTHO ON CALL : THE BARE NECCESITIES IN UPPER LIMB & SPINE

Invitation to Orthopaedica Belgica Instructional Course - Saturday, November 25, 2023

 Dear Esteemed Colleagues,

We are thrilled to extend our warmest invitation to you on behalf of the BVOT (Belgian Association of Orthopaedics and Traumatology) and SORBCOT (Société Royale Belge de Chirurgie Orthopédique et de Traumatologie). Join us for a day of insightful learning at the Orthopaedica Belgica Instructional Course, scheduled for Saturday, November 25th, 2023, in the picturesque city of Gent.

This educational event is part of a collaborative effort between SORBCOT and BVOT, dedicated to reinforcing the foundations of our field, a valuable complement to the renowned Orthopaedica Belgica Meetings. As we continue to explore topics such as robotics and artificial intelligence in Bruges and delve into the significance of adaptation and resilience in our profession in Brussels, this Autumn Course seeks to solidify our commitment to a "Back to Basics" teaching approach. Last year, we delved into "Back to Basics – The Lower Extremity," and this year, we aspire to go even further.

Our objectives for this upcoming Autumn Course are twofold: first, to deepen the knowledge and skills of our esteemed staff members and assistants, and second, to broaden our perspective beyond the confines of our individual subdisciplines. Our aim is to foster unity within our specialty and enhance our collective ability to provide the highest standard of care, especially during demanding on-call shifts. The overarching theme of the course is "What all of us need to know, even beyond our own subspecialty."

In this edition of the Autumn Course, we will place a sharper focus on complex conditions within the realms of spine, shoulder, and elbow. The day will consist of four intensive sessions, each lasting one and a half hours, distributed throughout the morning and afternoon. Each session will begin with an in-depth theoretical presentation, emphasizing applied anatomy and pathophysiology for the first half-hour, followed by a lively case-based discussion for one hour. Anticipate engaging in 3-4 case discussions per session.

This course is the result of a close collaboration between BVOT, SORBCOT, BELLS, BSS, and BOTRA. To add a touch of friendly competition to the mix, we have organized a quiz, and the winner will be announced during the cocktail reception at the end of the day.

We look forward to crafting an extraordinary autumn course, enriched by your insights and dedication. Don't miss out on this exceptional opportunity to expand your knowledge and network with colleagues in the field.
